Touchwood (Richmond) 8.5/10

Hello fellow cafe lovers!

I hope that you are all having a great day. Today I have a treat for you, if you’re having a bad day orScreen Shot 2015-08-07 at 4.45.30 pm even a bad week I would recommend that you go and visit this cafe in Richmond. I have to admit that I thought that this place was FANTASTIC! I had heard so much about this cafe and I always see photos of their food posted all over Instagram, so I thought that I’d better check it out. I looked up the menu before I left home, trying to pick out what I wanted to eat and I was’t disappointed with what I received when I ordered.

Touchwood was brought to you by the same team that started Short Straw, Coin Laundry, Station Street Trading Co, Tall Timber and Left Field.

Once again i went to brunch with my good friend Tiana. I have to say that i hate going to cafes alone, so i always find someone to join me.

The menu has such a wide range of options, there is definitely something for everyone on it. After reading through the menu I realised that i wanted to try almost everything and it looks like i’ll be going back really soon. This photo was taken in April 2015 and it might have changed.

Touchwood has an unique method of brewing their coffee, with one of their methods  using a coconut cold drip, with their delicious Five Senses Touchwood blend of coffee. With its deep rich flavour, this is a latte that you will want to have again.

Coffee rating: 4/5    4 out of 5

Latte ($3.80)

Tiana decided to get the house made baked beans, she really enjoyed it. She said that it was perfectly seasoned and had a great rich flavour. I would say that its the perfect breakfast to have on one of those cold Melbourne mornings. This hearty meal will fill you up and leave you happy all day long.

Touchwood Breakfast
House made baked beans with mushrooms, goats cheese, a poached egg and toast ($16.50) Plus extra bacon ($3)

Being the crazy sweet tooth that I am, I couldn’t go past the poached pear and salted caramel waffles. I LOVE LOVE LOVE salted caramel and was so excited when I saw this on the menu. I have to admit that they were so tasty! Some of the best waffles that i’ve ever had. They were so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. If you ever visit Touchwood you have to try them, trust me you won’t regret it!

Touchwood Breakfast
Poached Pear & salted caramel wholemeal waffles with whipped mascarpone, strawberry dust & toasted almonds ($15)

Touchwood has a large space with all their tables spread out so you don’t feel as if you’re sitting on top of each other. The staff are very friendly and the food didn’t take too long to come out. There are plenty of trams along Bridge road so this cafe is easy to get to and its also very close to both Richmond and Hawthorn train stations.
