Hi howdy hello fellow cafe lovers!
Welcome back to Cards and Cafés. I have recently been spending time in Williamstown and after some research found Crowded House and just had to give it a try. I really like this café and have been there three times now. I seem to go there every time I’m in Williamstown, so I highly recommended coming here when you are this end of town.
When walking inside, you can really see how popular this place is. So I would suggest getting here nice and early to ensure you get a seat (before 10am).
FOOD & DRINKS
The coffee at Crowded House was FABulous!! It was relatively strong and come out very quickly.
Coffee rating: 3/5

On one of my visits I order the gluten free banana bread, which was served with a vanilla bean mascarpone accompanied with maple syrup and caramelised walnuts. I am a huge fan of banana bread and I have a hard time going past it on any menu. When it arrived I was a little disappointed at the serving size. I honestly expected the slices to be a little larger and due to the small size I was still hungry. But with all that in mind, I have to say that it was a might tasty banana bread. It had a nice smooth texture and the soft mascarpone left a silky feeling throughout your mouth and the sweetness of the maple syrup left your taste buds wanting more.

I went with my dad on all occasions and he ordered the same meal, which was the free-range eggs (poached) on Phillipa’s bread. He said that it was very tasty. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the meal itself was very filling and appetising.

The next time I went I ordered the buttermilk hotcakes which was served with raspberry jam and lemon curd. Even though the hotcakes were very tasty, I have to say that I did not enjoy the jam on top. It was very sweet and overpowered the taste of the hotcakes and made me feel sick due to the richness. I thought that the lemon curd would help cut some of the sweetness of the jam, but I don’t think it made too much of a difference. I’m not a huge jam fan in the first place, so this could have been my first mistake. So if you are a jam fan then this could be the dish for you!

ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
Luckily there are plenty of tables in this café, there are table out the front of the café, inside and in the back outside. Sitting out the front of the café in spring/summer is amazing. The cool ocean air and watching the people go by is very calming and enjoyable.
The employees are all very friendly and helpful. The only thing is that food can sometimes take a while to come out, especially when they are busy.
