Hi howdy hello fellow cafe lovers!
Welcome back to Cards and Cafés !! A while back I was walking around South Yarra and I came across Two Birds One Stone. I had heard about this café and had seen so much on Instagram, but I never really knew where it was. I was so excited when I saw it and knew that I had to try it out.
But unfortunately for me, half of Melbourne thought the same thing. We had to wait for about half an hour for a table. But I’m glad we waited, because it was certainly worth it. It definitely lived up to all the hype.
FOOD & DRINKS
I didn’t actually order a coffee on this visit, but from what I’ve heard they have a fabulous coffee and I will definitely go back in the future and try it.
I ordered the twice-cooked French toast, which was served with fresh banana, delicious rich chocolate sauce and vanilla and macadamia nut praline. Not only did this dish look beautiful when it arrived at the table (almost two beautiful to eat), but the taste was out of this world. I love that this French toast was cut differently and weren’t thin pieces of bread (which can be found in other cafes), but instead they served chunky pieces of bread/toast. This French toast had an amazing crunch on the outside with a soft centre. Just writing this is making my mouth water remembering back to when I eating it. The soft fresh banana was a great contrast to the crunch of the toast and the chocolate sauce added and extra sweetness and richness which took this dish from an 8 to a 10 out of 10.
I would HIGHLY recommended this dish, you will not be disappointed!!
My dad ordered the sautéed mushrooms on brioche with cherry tomatoes, goat’s cheese and roasted almonds served with two poached eggs. He said that it was very tasty, but felt that there were too many mushrooms. He didn’t think that there would be some many of them when he first ordered it. But in the end it was a bit too much of a mushroom overload. So maybe this is a dish for all those mushroom fans out there. But he did say that the eggs were perfectly cooked and that the dish was well seasoned.
ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
There aren’t many tables at this café, so if you want to get a seat I would highly recommended that you get there early, so you don’t want to have to wait for a table.
The employees are all so friendly; they all walk around with big smiles on their faces and enjoy laughing and joking with their customers.
