G’day fellow cafe lovers!
Welcome back to Cards and Cafés! Hope you’ve all been well and have been enjoying some great food lately and if you have don’t forget to tell me all about it in the comments section below.
Well I have another fantastic recommendation for you. I came across Miss Alex & Co by sheer chance one day when I overheard some girls on the train talking about their experience at this place. I straightaway took out my phone and looked them up and got excited when I saw their incredible menu.
I sent my friend Tiana a text message and told that we have to try this place ASAP.
FOOD & DRINKS
I looked up the menu again the night before we went to try and decided what I would eat the next day (as I am incredibly incisive when it comes to food). Due to the number of tasty meals they had on their menu I knew that it would be quite challenging to narrow it down. I had finally decided on either having the hot cakes (shocker I know) or the banana bread sandwich (also not surprising). Below I have the menu so you can see what I mean about their delicious choices. This menu was from October 2015 and might have changed.

Today I decided that would have a cappuccino instead of a latte. If you have read any of my reviews before you would know how much I love latte’s and it’s not very often I try something different. But I’m very happy that I did, the coffee was just marvellous! It was presented so beautifully and I’m a sucker for some good coffee art.
Coffee rating: 4/5

Tiana ordered the chai latte and like everything else in this place, it was presented beautifully. She said that it was one of the best chai’s she’d had in a very long time. She loved how the honey was presented and said that it was such a cute and different idea. She said that she would highly recommend it to any chai lovers out there.
Coffee rating: 4/5

I finally decided on the banana bread sandwich, which was served with grilled banana, berries and pure Canadian Maple mascarpone topped with crushed pistachio nuts. When it came to the table I couldn’t believe how beautiful it looked. It looked like a piece of art, I almost felt bad for ruining it but it looked so delicious that I had to drive right in.
Everything on the plate worked so perfectly together and every bit was like a treat from God Himself. The banana bread was so moist and was one of the best banana breads I’ve ever had (and I’ve had plenty in my time). The berries bought a tart flavour, which helped to balance out the sweetness from the other elements in the dish. I would 100% recommend this to everyone, especially those that love banana bread or sweet breakfasts like me.

Tiana ended up having her favourite breakfast, which were the eggs benedict served with free-range eggs, Istra ham with hollandaise sauce. She said that it was absolutely delicious! She kept raving about how well the eggs were cooked and how rich and tasty the hollandaise sauce was. She said that she would be definitely be coming back to this café with her boyfriend and/or her family.
This cafe took us about an hour to drive to from our end of town but it was totally worth it! I would drive all that way anytime to go and enjoy another delicious and well presented meal.

ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
I still cannot get over how much time and effort went into the preparation and plating of all their meals. I couldn’t help but look at other tables and the food they ordered, every meal that I saw was so beautiful! They say you eat with your eyes even before the food reaches your mouth and I would have to agree with that statement. I’m sure their incredible presentation made their food even tastier.
The café itself is amazing inside; everything is perfectly designed and positioned. The person who designed the interior definitely has an eye for design. Down to the signs on the wall and the cushions on the benched areas. Everything about this place screams warm and cosy.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm smile and a very friendly waitress. She showed us to the table near the window. It was summer when we were there and they had the windows open which was fabulous as there was a warm summer breeze come through while we ate.
There are a number of tables in this café so there are plenty of options on where you could potentially sit. I would still recommend getting there early as we found as the morning went on the place started to fill up and we went during the week, so I can only imagine what the weekends must be like.
Parking was easy to find, due to the number of side streets and street parking along the main road.
This is definitely one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne and would highly recommend you give them a try.
