Raw 101 Café (Sydney) 7/10

What’s up café lovers?

Welcome back to Cards and Cafés! I was recently in Sydney visiting my family and I decided to go out for a drive, when I found myself in Castle Hill and ended up walking around Castle Towers shopping centre. I found Raw 101 Café just by chance, when I walked outside the centre near all the restaurants.

I had a quick read of their menu outside and saw that they had smashed avo and knew that I had to give them a try.

Raw 101 have a great selection of both sweet and savoury breakfasts to choose from, every dish sounds delicious and just makes your mouth water. The following menu photo was taken from their site as I forgot to take a picture.

I ordered a latte as I usually do when I visit cafés. This latte was relatively good. It was nice a hot when it arrived at the table and had a rich and creamy flavour.

I ended up ordering the classic smashed avocado, which was served with avo, basil pesto on soy and linseed sourdough with crispy bacon and a wedge of lemon; I also added a poached egg. I love nothing more than having the runny egg yolk running into the fresh avo.

I thought that this dish was quite tasty. The avo mix was fresh and was seasoned well. I thought that it was a fantastic serving and loved that they spread the avo on both sliced of toast. So many cafés only up the avo on the top slice and the other ends up dry. I love bacon, but I personally thought that they bacon was too crispy. It was very difficult to cut and bite into. But I thought that the saltiness of the bacon went perfectly with the creaminess of the avo and the richness of the egg yolk.

The employees at Raw 101 Café are all very friendly and welcoming. The café has a number of tables both inside the café and outside facing the street. I sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine while I drank my coffee and ate my meal.

The only thing that I disliked about this café is that it is a counter ordering café. As I’ve said in so many of my other blogs, I hate this type of café. I honestly prefer table service as I find it more relaxing and a more enjoyable experience. But that’s just me and what I prefer.
