How’s it going café lovers?
Welcome back to Cards and Cafés! I recently went to the Coin Laundry after hearing so much about it from a family friend. I went one Saturday morning with my Dad and our friends Alf and Dez. As we hadn’t caught up in a while we thought that it would be the perfect opportunity to grab breakfast.
Coin Laundry is quite a popular little café and we ended having to wait for 20 minutes for a table. So if you don’t mind waiting for a table, I’m sure you’ll find the wait worth the wait.
Coin Laundry is brought to you by the same team behind Short Straw, Touchwood, Station Street Trading Company, Tall Timber and Left Field.
FOOD & DRINKS
Coin Laundry has a great menu with a number of excellent mouth watering meals to choose from. You’ll be sitting there scratching your head trying to pick one. You might have to go back again and try that other dish you had your eye on.
The following menu photos were taken at the end of June 2016 and might have changed since.
I ordered my usual, which is a latte. I thought that the latte was fantastic! It had an incredible rich and creamy flavour, with every sip going down as smoothly as the last.
Coffee rating: 5/5

My Dad ordered a cappuccino and he also really enjoyed his coffee. He also thought that it had a strong and rich flavour. He liked it so much that he ordered a second one after our meal.
Coffee rating: 5/5

I ordered the Flamenco baked eggs, which were served in Napoli sauce with chorizo, cheese, mushrooms topped with herbs and toast.
I loved the wooden board that it was served on and loved the contrast of the white bowl and the brown of the wood.
I thought that it was a very tasty dish. I’m personally not usually a huge fan of baked eggs, but I really enjoyed these. The dish was perfectly seasoned and I loved the rich flavours that the chorizo sausages brought to the dish and felt that they took the dish to a whole new level.
The soft egg yolks mixed with the Napoli sauce was fantastic! I thought that it was rich and left me feeling full for the whole afternoon. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to try something different.

My Dad ordered the French toast, which was served with crispy bacon drizzled with 100% Canadian maple syrup. He had never had bacon with French toast and after trying it; he thought that it was a fantastic flavour combination. He loved that the saltiness from the bacon helped to balance out and cut some of the sweetness from the maple syrup.

Dez ordered the sweet corn fritters, which were served avocado mash, goat’s fetta and chicory dressed with crème fraiche. It looked fantastic when it first arrived at the table. It looked fresh and looked healthy. She said the fritters had an incredible flavour combination and together with the avocado were a match made in heaven.

Finally, Alf ordered the free-range eggs (poached) with a side serving of mushrooms with soughdough toast. He said that the eggs were cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were tasty.

ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
As I said earlier, the café is quite small inside and therefore only has a few tables. Coin Laundry also has a few tables outside, which perfect if you want to sit out and enjoy the sunshine or if you’ve brought your four-legged friend with you.
The staff members are all very friendly and very helpful. They are happy to answer any questions you might have about the menu.
I loved the relaxed atmosphere that the café has, where you feel like you can comfortably by the window and enjoy your coffee or sit and catch up with friends.
