Hi Café Lovers!
Welcome to Cards and Cafés!
After finding Holla Food & Coffee on Instagram and looking through all their photos of delicious food, I knew that this café needed to be added to my ever-growing list.
I went with my friend Beth for a quick brunch on a Thursday morning and we really enjoyed it. The café was really easy to find and we didn’t have any trouble finding parking.
This café is the perfect place to go for a quick coffee in the morning or for a catch up with friends or family over the weekend. Their delicious food and great coffee will keep you coming back.
Side note: They do not split bills!
FOOD & DRINKS
Both Beth and I liked the menu and thought that they had a great selection of meals and drinks to choose from.
Holla uses These Days Coffee blend, which is roasted in house.
The following menu photos were taken in November 2017 and it might have changed since.
I ordered a cappuccino, which I thought was fantastic. It was strong, had a thick and creamy consistency, and was nice and hot when it arrived.
Coffee rating: 4/5

Beth ordered a chai latte. The froth was silky and the drink was nice and warm, however it was too weak for her personal taste.
Chai rating: 2/5

For breakfast, Beth ordered the Brekkie Board with pureed peas on toast, poached egg, cauliflower fritter, smoked cheddar puree, apple & nashi pear bircher muesli, and an orange juice.
She loved the variety of the brekkie board and the portion size was perfect.
The smashed peas were seasoned well and the egg yolk was nice a runny.
The fritters themselves were dense and full of flavour. The muesli was nice and sort and she really enjoyed the berry component. Finally the orange juice was fresh and had plenty of pulp.

I ordered the Roast Cauliflower & Quinoa Fritters, with smoked cheddar puree, chargrilled jalapeno, poached eggs, bacon and herb crumb.
I thought that this dish was delicious! I loved the cheddar puree, which was light and fluffy and full of flavour. It added an extra richness to the dish and went perfectly with the fritters. The puree just melted in your mouth and was like a slice of Heaven on the plate.
The fritters were dense, which made them quite filling and I ended up struggling to finish. They were tasty and the flavours were well balanced. I liked the addition of the jalapeno, which I thought added an extra depth of flavour and gave the dish a little kick.
The eggs were cooked well as the yolks were still a bit runny.
I would definitely order this dish again.

ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
We ended up sitting outside overlooking the main road and both agreed that this is the perfect place to sit during the warmer months or if you have your dog with you. It’s nice and quiet, and you can enjoy chats with your friends or just watch the world go by. Inside, they have a number of tables so I’m sure you’ll find a spot. But I would suggest getting here before 10 am during their busy weekend period to avoid waiting for a table. However, even if you have to wait I’m sure you’ll find it to be worth your time.
The service was great and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The table service was quite fast and we received our drinks and food in a reasonable time.
The environment is quite relaxed and we didn’t feel any pressure to quickly eat our food to give our table to the next group.
I would definitely come back to this café.
