Hello There!
Welcome to Cards and Cafés!
Only a short walk from the beach sits The Guilty Moose, your one stop café for all things delicious! Their beautiful courtyard will have you feeling lazy as you won’t want to move, you will want to sit there all day drinking coffee and tasting different dishes on their menu.
There isn’t much parking in the area. Most of it is in a one-hour parking zone, so be sure to keep an eye on the time to avoid getting a parking fine.
I went to The Guilty Moose with my friend Beth one Saturday morning and we were lucky enough to be seated right away. But as the morning went on the café became quite busy, so I would recommend getting there before 10 am over the weekend period to avoid having to wait for a table.
FOOD & DRINKS
The menu at The Guilty Moose is great and we both struggled to narrow it down to just one dish we wanted to eat.
The following menu photos were taken in November 2017 and might have changed since.
Both Beth and I ordered a cappuccino, which we enjoyed. They were nice and hot when they arrived at the table. We liked the blend and thought that they were the perfect strength.
Coffee rating: 4/5

For breakfast, Beth ordered the Bagdad Eggs (Make Eggs Not War), which was fried eggs with garlic and spices, harissa, tahina lentils, smoked egg plant, and mint on pita bread.
There was a generous serving of eggs and sauce in this dish, and spices really brought it to life. The pops of smoked eggplant really added a lovely surprise with its bursts of flavour.
All the flavours of this dish worked together perfectly. She loved this meal and would definitely order it again.

I ordered the Macho Man Randy Sandwich, with a pork and fennel sausage, bacon, wilted spinach, scrambled eggs, chives, and bulldog sauce in an English muffin.
I’m not normally a fan of fennel, but I thought that it worked really well in the pork sausage. The flavour was there but it wasn’t overpowering whatsoever. Even though this dish looked rather small when it arrived at the table, I found that I became quite full as the pork sausage made it rich and rather filling.
The scrambled eggs were cooked well and were seasoned perfectly.
I enjoyed this dish and would order it again.

ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
The café has a handful of tables out the front overlooking Victoria Avenue. There is limited seating inside, however the beautiful courtyard out the back has several tables. We sat in the courtyard and loved it! This is definitely the place to sit if you can.
The staff members at The Guilty Moose are friendly and they seated us as soon as we walked in. They were very attentive and came and checked on us a few times to see how everything was and to offer us more drinks.
The environment is very relaxed, and you can see this is a local favourite. We felt comfortable to sit and chat after our meal, without feeling that we had to rush off to give our table to the next group.
We both enjoyed our time here and would definitely go back in the future.
