Hey Café Lovers!
Welcome to Cards and Cafés!
Hannah, located on the St Kilda end of Chapel Street, is the home of delicious food and fantastic coffee.
This beautifully styled café is definitely one to add to your list and to visit.
There is quite a lot of parking either down Chapel Street or the side streets surrounding the café. Just be sure to watch the time as most of these spots are in one-hour zones and I’m sure you don’t want to spoil your day by getting a parking fine.
I went to Hannah with my friends Beth and Kate for a quick bite to eat and a good catch up.
FOOD & DRINKS
The menu at Hannah was different to what you would find in other cafes and we were all excited to sink our teeth into some delicious food. Unfortunately, they had run out of ingredients for the Tea Garden which was rather disappointing, but that just means we’ll have to go back and give it a try.
Hannah use the Proud Mary coffee blend. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
The following menu photos were taken in January 2018 and it might have changed since.
Both Beth and I ordered a cappuccino, which we enjoyed. They were a good temperature when they reached the table, had a thick and creamy consistency and went down a real treat.
Coffee rating: 4/5
Kate ordered a chai latte and we all thought that it was a generous serving. She said that it had a great flavour and that she really enjoyed it.
Chai rating: 3/5
For breakfast, both Beth and I ordered the Cauliflower and Corn Hash with poached eggs (2), romesco sauce, avocado puree with herbs, almond and jalapeno salad, and Parmesan foam.
We all thought that this dish was plated beautifully. We loved the colour contrasts between the greens from the salad, the golden brown of the hashes, and the orange from the romesco sauce.
I thought that the cauliflower and corn hashes were fantastic! They were
nice and crunchy on the outside while the inside was soft and fluffy. Every mouthful had your taste buds dancing with joy.
The Parmesan foam was also tasty and wasn’t overpowering whatsoever. I’ve had them in the past and they tend to make me feel sick, but I didn’t get that after eating this one.
I enjoyed the addition of the jalapenos as they added an interesting flavour and took the dish to a whole new level.

Kate ordered the Coconut Pancakes with pink peppered berries and vanilla mascarpone.
This was a very generous serving. She received three massive pancakes and in the end, couldn’t even finish them.
The coconut pancakes were delicious and Kate loved the fluffy texture. She said the berries added something special to the dish, which she loved!

ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE
We all thought that the service was great. The staff members were all friendly and they made us feel very welcome.
As we went during the week, we were lucky that we didn’t have to wait for a table. We managed to sit next to one of the windows and as it was a lovely day outside the windows were open, which allowed the summer breeze to flow through the café.
The plants inside added pops of colour against the matte black finish and the timber furniture. They added life to the place and gave us something else to look at. The lighting is fantastic and quite different to what you see in other cafes.
The café is also child and dog-friendly. They have a water bowl outside, so if you bring your fur baby they can also feel right at home.
Finally, we all felt that the environment at Hannah was very relaxing. We didn’t feel any pressure to quickly eat and leave.
