Clubhouse Malvern (Malvern) 7.5/10

Hey Cafe Lovers!

Welcome to Cards and Cafés!

I recently went to Clubhouse Malvern with my two friends Beth and Kate. We’d have driven past this café in previous weeks and decided that we needed to go and give this café a try.

We went on a Saturday morning and the place was already pumping and ended up having to wait for a table, as it was a little too chilly to sit outside.

We managed to find parking down one of the side streets near the café after driving around for ages, it was a bit of a struggle so hopefully you’ll have better luck then we did.

Just a heads up, there are no split bills over the weekend and this is a weekend surcharge of 10%.

The menu was interesting as they have a great selection of dishes to choose from.

The following menu photos were taken in June 2018.

I ordered a cappuccino and it came to the table nice and hot and had a deliciously rich and creamy consistency. But was very small for the price I was charged.

Kate ordered a peanut butter and banana smoothie with cacao, honey and almond milk. She said that it was delicious and that the flavours were well balanced.

Both Beth and I ordered the Blossom Hotcakes, with salted caramel, strawberries, mascarpone, dark chocolate meringue and raspberry curd.

This dish looked absolutely beautiful, we both loved the pops of colours from the flowers against the golden-brown hotcakes. The hotcakes themselves were great and were fluffy on the inside with a slightly crunchy outside. The salted caramel wasn’t too overpowering and paired with the mascarpone was a match made in heaven.

The meringue was fantastic and added something special to the dish by giving that slight crunch that it needed.

We both would order this dish again.

Kate ordered the Mojo Benny, with Cuban pulled pork, cheddar cornbread waffle, guacamole, chipotle hollandaise with two poached eggs. She said that this was one of the best eggs benedict that she’s had in a while and would highly recommend it.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the cornbread waffle had a great flavour and was something quite different to what she’s seen in the past. The hollandaise was smooth and delicious and all the elements on the plate worked together perfectly.

The staff at Clubhouse Malvern were fantastic, they were super friendly and welcoming as they did their best to seat us as quickly as they could.

The atmosphere is fair relaxed, and we didn’t feel rushed at any point.

The service was pretty good for a busy Saturday morning and we didn’t feel as if we waited too long for our drinks or our meals.

We were just disappointed at the surcharge of 10% over a weekend. There needs to be a bigger sign, or we need to be told when we sit down. There is a tiny sign at the bottom of the menu, but I don’t think this is sufficient. I have never been to a café that has a surcharge over the weekend and probably wouldn’t return to this one due to this.
