Heritage Wall (Camberwell) 7/10

G’day Café Lovers!

Welcome to Cards and Cafés! I recently came across Heritage Wall café while driving through Camberwell one afternoon and thought that from the outside this café was right up my alley.

I went with two of my friends Beth and Kate one Saturday morning, which was actually my birthday.

The staff were warm and welcoming and seated us right away.

There is plenty of parking in the area, while lots of parking right outside the café and plenty down the many side streets surrounding the café.

We all liked the menu and thought that there were plenty of delicious meals to choose from.

The following menu photos were taken in June 2018 and might have changed since.

Once again, I ordered a cappuccino and it came to the table quite soon after I ordered it. The coffee had a nice rich flavour and was hot when it arrived at the table.

Both Kate and I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which came with Kaiserfleisch, apple and fennel salad, applesauce and poached eggs, topped with hollandaise sauce on ciabatta. This dish has the option to be made gluten-free.

We both thought that dish was tasty and loved the pink of the one sauce against the white plate.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, and all the flavours were well balanced. The fresh apple added a burst of freshness and helped to balance the rich flavours of the hollandaise sauce and the poached eggs.

We were just disappointed at the serving size of the dish as it was rather small for the price we had to pay, and we were both left a bit hungry after we had finished. We both felt that the café either needs to add an extra piece of toast or they need to reduce the price as this meal was not worth almost $20.

Beth ordered the Herbs Folded Eggs, with goat’s cheese, chilli, fresh herbs on multigrain toast. This dish can also be made gluten-free.

Beth was surprised to see how large her serving size was compared to Kate and me as she was paying less and seemed to have so much more. In the end, she struggled to finish as there was just so much there.

She went on to say that the flavours were great, and the rich goat’s cheese went perfectly with the fluffy folded eggs. She wasn’t a huge fan of the chilli and ended up picking most of it out, but that’s more personal preference and her not liking so much chilli in her food.

The eggs were cooked well and were seasoned perfectly.

As said before, the staff at this café were very friendly and welcomed us as soon as we walked in. The table service was quicker than we expected it to be and we received our drinks and food fairly soon after ordering.

The environment was fairly relaxed, unfortunately, we ended up sitting right next to the kitchen, so we constantly had people walking past us and we felt like we were almost in the way.

But other than that, we found the café comfortable and didn’t feel as if we were being rushed to make room for the next table of customers.
